I've started to go on a mission to try bahn mi places in Paris. Every time I see a place that looks legitimate (it's a whimsical judgment with no sound basis) I would make an effort to try it.  I usually get a banh mi after I grocery shop at Tang Freres in the 13th but because they weren't opened on a Sunday, I thought my ritual of rewarding myself with an amazing vietnamese sandwich after exhausting grocery shopping was not gonna happen so I fed myself to the max before i went out.

After a giant meal at home, I headed up to Belleville to do some asian grocery shopping. After impatiently wading through a bunch of Chinese pushing monsters in Chen's market, I wandered down the street to breathe some dirty air before going down to the metro to wade through confused tourists blocking my way. This was when I passed Sandwich 17. Despite being stuffed to the max already, I went and bought a 3 EUR special banh mi. Unlike my go-to place thieng heng in the 13th, 17 only has three choices - it's super tiny store front with a disply case. The sandwich baguette was artisanal and so much better than the ones at TH and the ingredients feel much fresher. The price is higher though, to reflect the higher quality. I hope this place takes off because it's the true good stuff.
